Packing our Plants

We DO NOT ship plants in pots unless stipulated in the plant listing.

Some parts of Far North Queensland are in an Electric Ant Biosecurity Zone and the movement\shipping of soil, pots and potting mix etc.is considered a risk for also moving Electric ants. You don’t want these guys at your place! We are located in a lesser restricted area and have regular inspections by the Electric Ant team, so the risk is low, however we scrupulously adhere to the guidelines and all plants are de-potted, washed and inspected prior to shipping unless the plant is not suitable for bare root shipping. (small trees are the main exception).

On packing day.

Once depotted, plants are washed and inspected and then given a weak Seasol soak and the roots are carefully packed into damp sphagnum moss and paper towel, with an outer layer of foil to keep things together.

You plant will have the appropriate name tag included inside the foil.

We don’t use any plastic inside the box, your order with be interleaved with clean (new) butcher’s paper and paper towel, usually packed into a cardboard box, either an AUSPOST mailer or our own stock of boxes, depending on the size of your plant order.

We aim to use environmentally friendly packaging made from renewable or recycled materials. Please recycle/compost where possible.
